In the Sahel there are tensions. A number of concomitant factors cause them. For example, there is trafficking of all kinds, ethnic and religious rebellions and conflicts connected with the frontiers that are the heritage of colonialism.
The Sahel has become a privileged corridor for numerous lines of criminal activity. From the point of view of clandestine immigration into Europe, it is like an ocean that is ideally situated. It is a place where it is easy to procure all possible kinds of conventional arms while constituting a genuine factor for insecurity throughout the region.
